Seller's Tip - Open the Curtains

Seller's Tip - Open the Curtains

Natural light is a great way to brighten and lighten your home.  Light can add a positive influence in mood and overall ambiance.  Take the time to open your curtains and blinds before your home will be viewed by prospective buyers.  If your home is on Weiss Lake or has views of the lake, the impact can be even more important.

Weiss Lake Water Levels

We have great news regarding Weiss Lake winter water levels. Winter pool levels on Lake Weiss have been an ongoing conversation in Cherokee County for many years. Alabama Power submitted a request to raise the normal winter pool levels, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers issued an approval.

For a full overview of seasonal changes, summer pool levels, and how water fluctuations affect docks and shoreline use, visit our Weiss Lake Water Levels Guide.

What does this mean for you?  Each year, Weiss Lake water levels typically begin lowering in October and remain at winter pool until February. Historically, winter pool has been approximately 558 feet. Beginning in Fall 2022, the approved winter pool level increased to 561 feet.  This additional 3 feet of water will help enhance property values for those currently on seasonal water.  If you are evaluating waterfront homes for sale on Weiss Lake, understanding seasonal water levels is an important part of the buying process. The impact will vary depending where you are on Weiss Lake.  If you have significant repairs to make on docks, seawalls, ramps or other structures take advantage of the lower winter pool levels.

Because seasonal drawdown impacts dock access, shoreline visibility, and slough depth, winter water levels can actually provide valuable insight when evaluating lake property.

If you have questions about how Weiss Lake water levels may affect a specific property, our team is happy to help guide you.

Liberty Day 2021

If you live in Cedar Bluff or the surrounding areas, Liberty Day is a known highly anticipated annual tradition.  While COVID shut the festivities down in 2020, we are looking forward to the return of fireworks in 2021 and hopefully a full return of Liberty Day in 2022.

Liberty Day allows the Cedar Bluff community to celebrate our freedom, our friends and our family.  Activities start early in the day and conclude with an amazing firework display.  Vendors line our streets with arts, crafts, delicious refreshments and fun activities for children of all ages.

Another tradition we look forward to is the annual BBQ fundraiser held by the Cedar Bluff Volunteer Fire Department.  This year the Fire Department sold Boston Butts for $30.00 and they are available for pick up on July 3rd from 10:00 - 2:00pm.

The main event however is the amazing fireworks display over Weiss Lake that can be seen over the Highway 9 bridge between Cedar Bluff and Centre.  Weiss Lake is full of boaters coming from all parts of Weiss Lake to take in the colorful display.  While the water provides the best view, there are other great views available on land.

Owning a home on Weiss Lake brings you a sense of community and family.  It's great to get out and meet your neighbors.  This is one of the many reasons we all love to call Cherokee County our home.

To learn more about upcoming events in the area, check out the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce.

Stay safe and have a Happy Fourth of July!
